Religious School

Congregation Bayt Shalom is home to a thriving community of children and their families from all over Eastern North Carolina!

Children of all ages experience the joy of Jewish life and community at our temple Religious School.  Our comprehensive curriculum of Torah, Hebrew, Liturgy and Spirituality is presented interactively utilizing stories, music, arts, crafts, games along with colorful texts and videos.  Weekly Religious School services with kid-friendly songs and choreography include the whole family in learning and building community.

Students from HaNo’ar, our Youth Group, serve as assistants and role models in the classroom, and create fun RS carnival events for Chanukah and Purim as well as our zany Chocolate Seder on Passover.

The Jewish values of Tzedukkah (social justice) and Tikkun Olam (healing the world) are central to our focus.  Our students are involved in fund-raising and volunteering for a variety of community organizations such as the Pitt County Food Bank and the Greenville Humane Society.

Children and their families join together for these service projects adn fundraisers as well as class trips, both locally and out-of-state.  One recent yard sale enabled the students to travel to Washington, DC to experience the Holocaust Museum with their families.
